Saturday Sketch Skip and a Dedication

Happy Saturday!  Since Monday is Memorial Day here in the USA, I decided to dedicate today's post to my dad, a Vietnam veteran, and all the other veterans who served and are serving this great country of ours.  Thank you for your sacrifices!  Here's a pic of my dad way back in the late 1960s in Vietnam.  :)

Here's the sketch from Carol.  I flipped it on it's side to accommodate the image from the Red, White & Blue wheel.  The base of the card is Night of Navy.  The next layers are Real Red and Whisper White.  I ran them through the Big Shot in the Square Lattice embossing folder after I adhered the 2 pieces together.  I punched holes in that layer to mimic brads.  I used the Star punches for the corner embellishment.

Skip on over to Jeannette's blog to see what she created with Carol's sketch.  If the links are broken or missing, you can skip over to the UDI blog to continue the tour.

Supplies(all SU!):  Stamps- none.  Ink- Real Red.  Paper- Whisper White, Real Red, Night of Navy.  Accessories- Red, White & Blue Jumbo SA wheel, Big Shot, Square Lattice embossing folder, Star punch, Large Star punch, handheld punch, dimensionals.

Inspiration Thursday

Happy Thursday!  It's time for another Inspiration Challenge on the UDI blog!  Today's picture is just scrumptious!   Tart & Tangy immediately came to mind, so that's what I used for today's card.

The base is Gable Green.  The background layer is Barely Banana run through the Big Shot in the Square Lattice embossing folder.  The next layer is a rectangle of Basic Black.  The strawberries were stamped in Real Red and Glorious Green on Whisper White.  I punched them out with the Curly Label punch.  The sentiment from Teeny Tiny Wishes is stamped on Whisper White in Jet Black Stazon.  It's also punched out with the Curly Label punch.  It's layered on the matching Big Shot die.  A piece of gingham ribbon is the finishing touch.

Let me know what you think about today's card, and then head on over to the UDI blog to see what everyone else created for you!

Saturday Sketch Skip

Happy Saturday!  It's time for another Sketch Skip!  Here's today's sketch from Carol.  I saw Mickey Mouse immediately! I have 1000s of pictures of Walt Disney World, (I'm only an hour's drive away) so I decided to create a scrapbook page using My Digital Studio.  I used some random pictures from Christmas time.  There's a chocolate carousel from the Beach Club hotel, lighted Mickey ears from the side of the Contemporary, and a scene with Minnie and Mickey that was in a store window at Marketplace.

You can see what Jeannette created on her blog, and then just keep on going around to see what everyone else created for you.  If any of the links are broken or missing, you can head to the UDI blog.  Carol has all our links for you there.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Inspiration Thursday

Happy Thursday!  Before I get to the Inspiration Challenge, let me apologize for the sporadic postings lately.  Things have been crazy here, and I've been unable to make time to create anything besides the 2 UDI challenges I participate in every week.   I hope to be able to get my creativity flowing again soon.  Thanks for continuing to visit.  :)

Now on to the challenge!  Here is the picture Maria chose for us this week.  Playing cards immediately came to mind.  Since I don't have the Game Night stamp set, I kept thinking.  I chose to use the Bride Specialty paper sponged with Real Red ink for the focal point of the card.  It's layered on a piece of Basic Black, and a piece of Whisper White taffeta is tied around both layers.  (You can see a peek at the inside of the card on the right.  I adhered another piece of Basic Black and sponged Bride DSP to the bottom to add something extra.)  Now here's where I really got creative! ;)  Cards...queen of hearts...treat me like a queen...Favorite Thoughts for the sentiment.  LOL  I love this sentiment set.  (It's available in the Summer Mini.)  I just had to add the crown from Tiny Tags as the finishing touch.  (This set was in the Occasions Mini, but it's still available for purchase!)

Let me know what you think of my creative process this week.  :)  Then head on over to the UDI blog to see what everyone else came up with for you.

Supplies(all SU!):  Stamps- Favorite Thoughts, Tiny Tags.  Paper- Whisper White, Basic Black, Bride DSP.  Ink- Real Red, Jet Black Stazon.  Accessories-  Whisper White taffeta, sponge dauber.

A Birthday Sketch Skip

Today is a special day!   Carol, our sketch mom, is celebrating a birthday!  My card today is dedicated to her!  Happy birthday, Carol!  Hugs & cupcakes!

Here's the sketch we were given for today.  There was also a surprise challenge to use cupcakes.  Not a problem.  I used my favorite birthday set, Crazy for Cupcakes.  :)

The card base is 5 X 5 so I could fit the entire Scalloped Circle die on the front.  I used the Clear Circle die for the image layer.  The background layers are Razzleberry Lemonade DSP and Crushed Curry that's been run through the Big Shot in the Square Lattice embossing folder.  I punched a hole in the image layer with the Slot punch and tied a bow with some Whisper White taffeta.  The frosting on the cupcakes is covered with Dazzling Diamonds for a little something extra.

Let me know what you think, and then head on over to Jeannette's blog to see what she created for you today.  Don't forget to leave Carol some birthday wishes when you get to her blog.  You can find links to all the team members on the UDI blog if any of the links are broken or missing.

Enjoy your weekend!

Supplies(all SU!):  Stamps- Crazy for Cupcakes.  Ink- Melon Mambo, Crushed Curry, Real Red, Basic Gray, Jet Black Stazon.  Paper- Melon Mambo, Crushed Curry, Whisper White, Razzleberry Lemonade DSP.  Accessories- Big Shot, Clear Circle die, Scalloped Circle die, Square Lattice embossing folder, Slot punch, Whisper White taffeta, Dazzling Diamonds, 2-way glue pen.

Inspiration Thursday

Happy Thursday!  Here's the picture Maria chose for us today for the UDI Inspiration Challenge.  It looks like palm trees to me.  As soon as I saw it, the new boxes from the Summer mini popped into my head so that's the way I went.  ;)

I used the striped box and made a gift card to go with it.  It's a 3 X 3 So Saffron base with Tempting Turquoise and Whisper White layers.  I stamped the small outline flower from Flower Fancy in So Saffron, Pumpkin Pie, Tempting Turquoise and Rose Red randomly.  Then I added Old Olive doodle dots.  The tag is the Jewelry Tag punch, and the sentiment is from Tiny Tags. I tied it on to the card with some Linen Thread.  This ensemble will be perfect for a Thank You gift.

Let me know what you think, then head on over to the UDI blog to see what everyone else created for you.

Supplies(all SU!):  Stamps- Flower Fancy, Tiny Tags.  Paper- So Saffron, Tempting Turquoise, Whisper White.  Ink-  So Saffron, Pumpkin Pie, Tempting Turquoise, Rose Red, Old Olive.  Accessories- Jewelry Tag punch, Linen thread.

Sketchy Saturday

Happy Saturday!  I hope you all have a wonderful weekend planned.  I have a busy day today, and I'm hoping for a very quiet Mother's Day tomorrow.  ;)  Here is the sketch Carol drew for today's Sketch Challenge over on the UDI blog.  We were to make it for mom or someone special, but since I already made my mom and mom-in-law's cards, I made this one a thank you note.

The card base is Tempting Turquoise with a layer of Chocolate Chip and another of Whisper White.  The Whisper White layer was stamped with Itty Bitty Backgrounds in Tempting Turquoise and Chocolate Chip.  The sentiment is from Thank You Kindly.  The monogram is from Lovely Letters.  the Pretties Kit flower was covered with 2-way glue and Dazzling Diamonds.  I sponged the edges of all the white layers with Tempting Turquoise.  A strip of 5/8" Chocolate Chip grosgrain ribbon is the finishing touch.

Let me know what you think of today's card, and then skip on over to Jeannette's blog to see what she has for you today.  If any of the links are missing or broken, you can head on over to the UDI blog for links to all the team members.

Supplies(all SU!):  Stamps- Thank You Kindly, Itty Bitty Backgrounds, Lovely Letters.  Ink- Chocolate Chip, Tempting Turquoise.  Paper- Chocolate Chip, Tempting Turquoise, Whisper White.  Accessories-  Pretties Kit, Wide Oval punch, 1 1/4" and 1 3/8" Circle punches, Scallop Circle punch, 5/8" Chocolate Chip grosgrain, 2-way glue pen, Dazzling Diamonds, sponge dauber.

Inspiration Thursday

Happy Thursday!  It's time for another Inspiration Challenge on the UDI blog.  Here is the picture Maria has for us today.   I love it...so much so that I tried to recreate it.

I used Sahara Sand for the card base.  The next layer is also Sahara Sand.  I adhered a piece of Regal Rose striped DSP (made in MDS), and then ran the paper through the Big Shot in the new Square Lattice embossing folder.  I cut out 3 pieces of Whisper White card stock and stamped a flower from Eastern Blooms on each piece.  I used the thumping technique and 2 colors for each flower...Almost Amethyst and Lovely Lilac, Regal Rose and Cameo Coral, and So Saffron and Summer Sun.  The edges of each square were sponged in Sahara Sand.  The center flower is adhered with a dimensional.  I added Dazzling Diamonds in the center of each flower.  A piece of 5/8" Regal Rose grosgrain and a piece of Whisper White taffeta were added across the bottom.  The sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Wishes and is adhered with dimensionals.

I'll be mailing this off to my mom-in-law.  I hope she likes it!  Let me know what you think of it, and then head on over to the UDI blog to see what the rest of the team created.

Supplies(all SU!):  Stamps: Eastern Blooms, Teeny Tiny Wishes.  Ink- Sahara Sand, Almost Amethyst, Lovely Lilac, Regal Rose, Cameo Coral, So Saffron, Summer Sun. For my mom

Mother's Day is just around the corner.  This is the card I'll be giving my mom.  :)

I used one of the Elegant Trio stencils for the image.  Lavender Lace, Pale Plum and Apricot Appeal were sponged on the Whisper White card stock. I'm not a flower person so I just picked colors at random.  I absolutely love the result! The image panel is layered on a piece of Elegant Eggplant.  The sentiment from All Holidays is stamped right on top in Elegant Eggplant.  The card base is also Elegant Eggplant.  I used the new embossing folder, Square Lattice, on the Whisper White background piece.  I love, love, love this new folder.  I think it may be my favorite ever!  It completely changes the look of the paper.  I added a piece of 1/4" Elegant Eggplant grosgrain to finish the card.

I hope my mom likes it!

Supplies(all SU!):  Stamps- All Holidays.  Ink- Elegant Eggplant, Lavender Lace, Pale Plum, Apricot Appeal.  Paper- Whisper White, Elegant Eggplant.  Accessories- Elegant Trio stencils, Big Shot, Square Lattice embossing folder, 1/4" Elegant Eggplant grosgrain, sponge daubers.

Happy May and a Saturday Sketch Skip

Happy Saturday!  I hope you all have a fabulous weekend ahead of you!  Make sure you check out the Summer Mini Catalog that begins today!

Here's Carol's sketch for us today.  I stuck to the sketch and kept it simple.

I used a new set that is available today in the Summer Mini catalog!  It's called Go, Graduate and is adorable!  I just love this little owl.  I stamped him on Barely Banana in Jet Black Stazon and colored his cap with Rich Razzleberry.  The cardstock base is also Barely Banana.  All the mats are Rich Razzleberry, and the DSP is Razzleberry Lemonade.  Simple and quick.

Leave me some comment love and then skip over to Jeannette's blog.  If any links are broken or missing, you can find a list of all the team members at the UDI blog.

Supplies(all SU!):  Stamps- Go, Graduate.  Ink- Jet Black Stazon, Rich Razzleberry.  Paper- Barely Banana, Rich Razzleberry, Razzleberry Lemonade.  Accessories- Circle punches.
