Inspiration Thursday

Happy Thursday!  I am so glad I was able to participate in today's UDI Inspiration Challenge.  I have missed them the past couple weeks.  Here is the picture Maria chose for us today.  Isn't is fun and bright?!

I used the bright colors, flowers and butterflies for my card.  My mom needed a thank you card, so that's where I went with it.  She helped pick all the colors.  :)   She was really happy with it, but I'm not so sure about it.

The card base is Tempting Turquoise.  The next layer is Green Galore.  I used the Scallop Trim border punch on one side.  The Whisper White layer has been stamped with Vintage Vogue flowers and leaves in YoYo Yellow, Pixie Pink, Green Galore, Pumpkin Pie and Brilliant Blue.   The butterflies from the Beautiful Wings embosslit are Crushed Curry and Brilliant Blue.  The sentiment is from Thank You Kindly.  A piece of Crushed Curry Polka Dot grosgrain finishes off the card.  The layout was inspired by this week's Mojo Monday sketch.

Let me know what you think about my really bright card, and then head on over to the UDI blog to see what everyone else did with today's picture.

Saturday Sketch Skip

Happy Saturday!  Before I get to the sketch, I want to thank everyone who said a prayer for my mom.  Her procedure went well, and the doctor didn't find any blockage. She is back home recuperating.

Here is Carol's sketch for today.  I turned it on its side for my card.  Hey, I left them alone for long enough.  LOL

I used Barely Banana for the card base and a piece of Sweet Pea DSP that I printed in My Digital Studio.  The sentiment is from a new set that will be available on May 1st.  I stamped one of the flowers from Flower Fancy (it's just one of the sets on sale this month!) on the sentiment piece in Pretty in Pink and So Saffron.  A piece of Pretty in Pink satin ribbon is the finishing touch.  An easy sketch to work with and a simple card.

Skip on over to Jeannette's blog to see her creation or you can find links to all the team members back at the UDI blog.

Supplies(all SU!):  Stamps- Favorite Thoughts. Ink- Chocolate Chip, So Saffron, Pretty in Pink.  Paper- Barely Banana, Very Vanilla, Sweet Pea DSP (MDS).  Accessories- Pretty in Pink satin ribbon.

NSR: Asking for prayers

Hello!  I'm sorry I haven't been posting this week.  My mom found out on Friday that she may have a blocked artery.  She is going in for a heart catheterization tomorrow.  If you're the praying type, I'd appreciate it if you'd say one for her.

I'll leave you with a project from the Stampin' Up! website.   Click here to see all the supplies.

Saturday Sketch Skip

Happy Saturday!  I hope your weekend is off to a beautiful start!  Mine is very quiet.  My kiddos went camping with their dad and grandma.  I sure do miss them!
Carol has another wonderful sketch for us to create with today.  I left it just as drawn again.  :)

I have been loving all the projects I've seen all over blogland made with the Sweet Pea DSP from the Occasions mini catalog.  I held my ground and didn't buy it.  I would never use it all before it retires, and I already have piles of retired DSP.  I know, it's shocking!  ;)
Hmmm...that DSP on my card looks strangely like Sweet Pea DSP.  Where did I get it?  Oh!  It's a download available for My Digital Studio!  Now I have Sweet Pea paper to use forever!  I just have to print the piece I want on my computer printer.  :)

Here's my card.  I used Barely Banana for the card base.  Yep, more Barely Banana.  I'm trying to use up my just-opened package before it retires.  Under the layer of Sweet Pea DSP is a layer of Chocolate Chip.  I used another piece under the Barely Banana cardstock that I ran through the Big Shot in my Square Lattice (available May 1st) embossing folder.  There is also a piece of Chocolate Chip under the small focal piece of DSP.  A piece of 5/8" Chocolate Chip grosgrain is adhered over all the layers.  Some Beautiful Wings embosslit butterflies in Barely Banana are the finishing touch.

Let me know what you think, then skip on over to Jeannette's blog to see what she created for your viewing pleasure today.  If you get lost or any of the links aren't working, head on over to the UDI blog.  Carol has links to all today's creations.

Supplies(all SU!):  Stamps- none.  Ink- none.  Paper- Barely Banana, Chocolate Chip, Sweet Pea DSP (MDS).  Accessories-  MDS, Big Shot, Square Lattice embossing folder, Beautiful Wings embosslit, 5/8" Chocolate Chip grosgrain ribbon.

Time for a Color Renovation!

Stampin' Up! is spring cleaning!  The color families are being freshened up a bit.  They will now be called Color Collections.  You can see the new colors and the ones being retired at the bottom of this post.  The retiring colors will be available until June 30th, however, on June 1st they will be while supplies last!  Stock up on your favorites now!

Along with the 40 core colors, there will still be In Colors every year.  The difference is that there will be 5 of them, and they will stay around for 2 years.  Every year the older 5 will be replaced with 5 new ones.  This July 1st, the first 5 new In Colors will be introduced.  Beginning next July, there will be 10 In Colors available at a time.

I am excited to see the new colors in person, but I am sad to see some of my favorites retiring.  Change is good, though, and I'm sure we'll love all the new colors!

Retiring Colors (Blush Blossom will still be available in marker form.)

Sketch Skip Saturday

Happy Saturday!  It is a happy Saturday at my house for sure!  The kiddos have begun their Spring Break!  :)   Here's today's UDI Sketch Challenge.  I left it just as Carol drew it today.

My card base is Tempting Turquoise.  The next layer is Chocolate Chip.  I made my own DSP with one of the tree tops from Trendy Trees.  The inks are Chocolate Chip and Tempting Turquoise.  I used a Jumbo Grommet, an Ice Rhinestone Circle brad, a 3/4" cardstock circle and a clear button for the round embellishments.  The sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Wishes and is punched with the Word Window punch.  That piece is layered on a Modern Label punch.  I sponged the edges of the Whisper White cardstock with Creamy Caramel ink.  Chocolate Chip 5/8" grosgrain is the finishing touch.

I love these colors together.  What do you think?  Leave me a comment and then skip on over to Jeannette's blog.  We're all linked so you won't miss anyone.  In case there are any breaks, you can also find all the links over on the UDI blog.

Supplies(all SU!):  Stamps- Trendy Trees, Teeny Tiny Wishes.  Ink- Chocolate Chip, Tempting Turquoise, Creamy Caramel.  Paper- Whisper White, Tempting Turquoise, Chocolate Chip.  Accessories- Jumbo Grommet, Clear button, 3/4" Circle punch, Ice Rhinestone brad, Word Window punch, Modern Label punch, Chocolate Chip 5/8" grosgrain.

Flight of Spring

Good Thursday morning!  It's time for the 90th Diva Inspiration Challenge over on the UDI blog!  The picture Maria has for us today is a gorgeous one.  The first thing that came to mind when I saw this picture was tulips made from the Bird punch.  I did one of those for an Easter card.  You can see it here.  So since I'd already done tulips, I used the colors and theme for my inspiration today.

The card base is Green Galore.  The Whisper White layer was run through the Big Shot in the Square Lattice embossing folder that will be available to customers on May 1st.  The butterflies are from the Butterfly punch.  They are Pixie Pink, Lovely Lilac and Pink Passion.  After punching them, they took a run through the Big Shot in the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder.  Rhinestones from the Eggcellent Eggs Kit (sold out) make their bodies.  They are adhered just in the center so the wings can flutter.  :)

Let me know what you think of my Clean and Simple Spring card, then head on over to the UDI blog to see what every one else created.

Have a fabulous day!

Supplies(all SU!):  Stamps- none.  Ink- none.  Paper- Green Galore,  Pink Passion, Pixie Pink, Lovely Lilac.  Accessories- Big Shot, Perfect Polka Dots & Square Lattice embossing folders, Butterfly punch, Eggcellent Eggs Kit (sold out).

Happy birthday, Lauren!

Twelve years ago today, my daughter was born.  It seems like just yesterday.  I can't believe how fast the years have flown.  We're going out to eat tonight after her brother's soccer practice.  Then we'll come home for cake.  Her big party is Sunday afternoon.  Bowling with 15 or so of her closest friends.  :)
This is the card I made for her.  I hope she likes it!

The card base is Barely Banana.  (Yep, it's my fave yellow, and it's retiring.)  I ran it through the Big Shot in the new Square Lattice embossing folder (available May 1).  It's a great pattern! I sponged the card base with So Saffron ink for even more texture. I sponged the edges of all the layers, too.  The image and sentiment are from Happy Moments (retired - SAB).  I just love this cake!  I colored the flowers and used Dazzling Diamonds as the frosting.  :)  The image layer is adhered the another piece of Barely Banana that was textured with the same folder.  The sentiment is punched out with the Modern Label punch.  I embellished both sides with adhesive rhinestones from the Eggcellent Eggs kit (sold out).  A piece of Regal Rose 5/8" grosgrain ribbon finishes off the card.

Supplies(all SU!):  Stamps- Happy Moments.  Ink- Jet Black Stazon, So Saffron (for sponging), Barely Banana, Regal Rose, Pumpkin Pie.  Paper- Barely Banana, Whisper White.  Accessories-  Big Shot, Square Lattice embossing folder, Eggcellent Eggs kit, 5/8" grosgrain ribbon, Dazzling Diamonds, 2-way glue pen, dimensionals.

Mini Milk Carton Birdhouse

Good Monday morning!  I hope you had a fabulous Easter with your family!
Today I'm sharing this adorable little birdhouse.  I believe Patty Bennett is the original creator of this.  It's made from the Mini Milk Carton die.  Once the carton was cut, I ran it through the Big Shot on the Distressed Texturz plate.  Then I rubbed Close to Cocoa ink all over it so the pattern was more pronounced.  The hole was punched with the 1" Circle punch.  The bird and her branch are from the XL Bird punch.  The  welcome sign is a Jewelry punch with a sentiment from Tiny Tags.  The rhinestone is from the Eggcellent Eggs kit (sold out).  I didn't glue the roof's just being held on by the clip.  That way it can still be opened.  :)

Enjoy your Monday!

Supplies(all SU!):  Stamps- Tiny Tags.  Ink- Close to Cocoa, Chocolate Chip.  Paper-  Kraft, Old Olive, Welcome Neighbor DSP (SAB- retired).  Accessories-  Big Shot, Mini Milk Carton die, Distressed Texturz plate, XL Bird punch, 1" Circle punch, Jewelry Tag punch, Scalloped Edge border punch, Eggcellent Eggs kit (sold out), library clip.

Inspiration Thursday

Happy April Fool's Day!  I hope you have fun playing pranks on your friends and family!  I'm glad I'm working from home today.  ;)

Aside from being April 1st, today is Thursday.  That means it's time for another Inspiration Challenge on the Utah Divas International blog.  Here is the picture Maria chose for us today.  Is that chick not the cutest thing?

I inked up a neglected stamp set, Inspired by Nature.  I stamped the grass with Mellow Moss, then stamped again in Versamark to make a shadow.  I clear embossed the Versamark image.  The flowers were stamped in Old Olive, Close to Cocoa and So Saffron.  All the edges of all the layers were sponged.  I stamped the sentiment from Whimsical Words in Close to Cocoa.  The ribbon is Chocolate Chip grosgrain and Very Vanilla taffeta.

Leave me a comment (they make my day!),and then head on over to the UDI blog.  Maria has links to all the other team members there.

Supplies(all SU!):  Stamps- Inspired by Nature, Whimsical Words (retired).  Ink- So Saffron, Close to Cocoa, Old Olive, Mellow Moss, Versamark.  Paper- Barely Banana, Mellow Moss, Very Vanilla.  Accessories-  Chocolate Chip 5/8" grosgrain, Very Vanilla taffeta, Clear EP.
