Sketchy Saturday

Good Saturday morning!  It's time for another UDI Sketch Challenge.  Today Carol threw in a couple surprises for us.  We were to use a line art image and cutting.  The line art image didn't bother me, but I'm scissor-challenged, and I was quite worried about the cutting part.  Wanna know what I cut?  Well, I'll tell you.  I cut the Certainly Celery card stock, and the Barely Banana card stock and the Regal Rose card stock with my table-top cutter.  I also cut out some shapes with some different punches.  She didn't say what we had to cut with, right?  LOL

My line art image is from Pun Fun.  I stamped it on Whisper White with Jet Black stazon.  The Barely Banana layer was run through the Big Shot in the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder.  The Regal Rose strip went through the crimper.  The sentiment was cut out with the Word Window punch and layered on a Regal Rose Modern Label punch.  I used mini glue dots to adhere the Sweet Pea felt pieces.

That's it for me today.  Let me know what you think about my card (and my cutting), and then head on over to the UDI blog to see what everyone else created.

Supplies(all SU!):  Stamps- Pun Fun.  Ink- Jet Black stazon, Barely Banana, Regal Rose, Certainly Celery.  Paper-  Certainly Celery, Barely Banana, Regal Rose, Whisper White.  Accessories-  Big Shot, Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder, Sweet Pea stitched felt, Modern Label punch, Word Window punch, 1 3/4" Circle punch, mini glue dots.

Vintage Birthday

WooHoo!  It's finally Friday!  I hope you have plans for a fabulous weekend!     My daughter is having a friend spend the night tonight.  She's already told me that they are not planning on sleeping.  Does that mean I have to stay up all night too?  I'm too old for all-nighters.  LOL  Anyway, on to the card.  :)

My mom requested a birthday card for a co-worker.  The birthday cake was white with blue flowers so I used that for my color combo.  I made my own DSP using the Vintage Vogue set and Night of Navy, Bashful Blue and Certainly Celery ink.  After I stamped all the flowers and vines, I sponged on a bit of Night of Navy ink.  The sentiment and frame is from the SAB set, Vintage Labels.  I sponged that piece also.  It's punched out with the Wide Oval punch and layered on a Lots of Tags die-cut.  I added a strip of Night of Navy punched with the Scallop Trim border punch.  A piece of Bashful Blue taffeta is the finishing touch.  I decorated the inside, too.  You can just see the edge of the Vintage Vogue border stamp.

Have a fabulous Friday!  I'll be back tomorrow with my submission for the UDI Sketch Challenge.

Supplies(all SU!): Stamps- Vintage Vogue, Vintage Labels. Ink- Night of Navy, Bashful Blue, Certainly Celery. Paper- Whisper White, Night of Navy, Bashful Blue. Accessories- Big Shot, Lots of Tags sizzlit, Wide Oval punch, Scalloped Trim border punch, Bashful Blue taffeta.

Inspiration Thursday

Happy Thursday!  It's time for another inspiration challenge on the UDI blog.  This week's picture is so yummy!  I used the colors and the theme for my creation. The layout is the Cards & Thing sketch for this week.

My card base is 4 1/4" X 4 1/4".  The next layer is 4" X 4".  The gorgeous, glittery DSP squares are 2".  The scallop circle is from the Scallops #2 die. I pokes holes with my paper piercer in each scallop. The Pretty in Pink and Very Vanilla circles were cut with the Circle Scissors Plus.  The image is stamped in Chocolate Chip.  I stamped it again on a piece of DSP and paper pieced the liner. The sprinkles are covered in Dazzling Diamonds.  A piece of taffeta ribbon threaded through a corduroy button is the finishing touch.

Let me know what you think, and then head on over to the UDI blog to see what everyone else created.

A Blog Award

I had a wonderful surprise in my inbox this morning.  Andrea  presented me with a Happy 101 Award.  Thanks so much!  You made my day!

Here are the rules.
1. Copy and paste the award on your blog.
2. List who gave the award to you and link to her blog.
3. List 10 things that make you happy.
4. Pass the award on to other bloggers and visit their blog to let them know!

Ok.  Ten things that make me happy.  I have so many happy things in my life, I'll try to keep it short and sweet.  1.  My family.  I love them so much, even when they're trying to drive me crazy!  ;)  2.My real-life friends.  Even though we're all busy, and I don't get to see them all the time anymore, I know if I need something, I can count on them. 3. My cyber-space friends.  I have so many wonderful online friends.  Some I have even been blessed to meet IRL.  4. My home. It needs some work, but it's the only home my kiddos know.  5.  Stamping.  This hobby has brought me some fabulous friends and is my stress relief.
6.  Working from home.  I love to be able to sit at my desk and work in my jammies once a week.  :)  7. Volunteering.  I volunteer whenever I can at my kiddos' school, and I am the school's newsletter editor. 8. Hearing the birds singing. 9.  Playing games with my kiddos. (As long as they don't beat me too bad.  LOL)  10.  Seeing my kids bloom every day!

I guess that's enough for now.  I will pass this award on to Adriana, Ruthie, Robin, Carol and Leonie.  They are friends from UDI.  :)

Enjoy what's left of your day.  I'll be back tomorrow for Inspiration Thursday.

Another Masculine Birthday

Happy Monday!  (Is there such a thing? LOL)  I have another masculine birthday card to share today.  This was for a friend's husband.  I have such a hard time with guy cards.  I found a great one on Stampin' Connection (a new website SU! hosts that is for demos only) that Kathryn Ricks made.  I loved it, and I just had to CASE it.  :)  She had an extra layer on hers that I didn't include on mine.

To make the diamond crimping, cut your paper to 5 1/4" X 4".  Mark the center point on all four sides.  Using your bone folder or stylus and a ruler, score diagonally from center point to center point.  Fold on the score lines.  You will have 4 triangles.  Now run your paper through your crimper with the paper still folded point first.  When you unfold it, you'll have a great background to use!

Supplies(all SU!):  Stamps- Birthday Bliss.  Ink- Basic Black, Real Red.  Paper- Whisper White, Basic Black, Real Red.  Accessories- Big Shot, Lots of Tags sizzlit, Wide Oval punch, Crimper, bone folder, ruler.

Enjoy your day!

Supplies(all SU!):  Stamps- On Your Birthday.  Ink- Not Quite Navy.  Paper- More Mustard, Not Quite Navy, Welcome Home DSP (SAB), Sending Love notes-Hugs.  Accessories-  So Saffron buttons.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Sketchy Saturday

Happy Saturday!  It's time for another UDI Sketch Challenge.  Here's what Carol came up with for us today.

I used the sketch just as it is again.  Shocking, I know.  LOL  My card base is Pretty in Pink with a piece of Welcome Home DSP (SAB) on top.  My focal image is made with the fabulous new XL Bird punch (Occasions mini).  The heart is punched with the new Small Heart punch (Occasions mini).  The bow is tied with the scrumptious new Pretty in Pink Satin ribbon (Occasions mini).  It's a simple card with no stamping, but I really like the end result!  :)

Let me know what you think of it, and then head on over to the UDI blog to see what everyone else did with Carol's sketch.

Supplies(all SU!):  Stamps- none.  Ink- none.  Paper-  Whisper White, Pretty in Pink, Old Olive, Welcome Home DSP.  Accessories-  XL Bird punch, Small Heart punch, Pretty in Pink Satin ribbon.

Inspiration Thursday

It's time for another Inspiration Challenge!  Today's picture was way too cold again!  At least we're back in the 70s for highs down here in Florida.  My kids are back to wearing shorts to school.  LOL

I used the color scheme of today's picture as inspiration for my card.   I chose Whisper White, Bashful Blue and Night of Navy.   The scalloped rectangle started life as a 3 3/4" X 4 3/4" plain rectangle.  I used the FREE Scalloped Trim border punch (SAB) and the Scalloped Trim corner punch (Occasions mini) to make it pretty.  :)  The scalloped hearts were made with the Scalloped Heart of Hearts embosslit.  The white hearts were punched with the Full Heart punch and then run through the Big Shot in the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder.  Some Bashful Blue taffeta finishes the card quite nicely.  I think this would make a great Valentine's Day card, Anniversary card or just a Thinking of You card.  I hope you like it as much as I do!

Make sure you head on over to the UDI blog to see what the other team members created.

Supplies(all SU!):  Stamps- none.  Ink- none.  Paper- Whisper White, Bashful Blue, Night of Navy.  Accessories-  Big Shot, Scalloped Heart of Hearts embosslit, Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder, Full Heart punch, Scalloped Trim border punch, Scalloped Trim corner punch, Bashful Blue taffeta.

Sketchy Saturday

Good Saturday morning!  It's time for another UDI Sketch Challenge brought to us by Carol!

Here's my card.  As you can see, I didn't mess with the sketch at all today.  I left it just as Carol drew it.  :)  I used some SAB & Occasions mini goodies and the same colors as yesterday's card.  The card base is Crushed Curry.  I ran it through the Big Shot in the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder.  The Bermuda Bay and Melon Mambo layers were punched with the FREE Scalloped Trim border punch.  The butterflies are from the new, SU! exclusive, Beautiful Wings embosslit.  The sentiment from the SAB set, Whimsical Words, is stamped in Basic Black.

Head on over to the UDI blog to see what the other team members created for your viewing pleasure today.

Supplies(all SU!):  Stamps- Whimsical Words.  Ink- Basic Black.  Paper- Crushed Curry, Bermuda Bay, Melon Mambo, Whisper White.  Accessories-  Big Shot, Beautiful Wings embosslit, Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder, Scalloped Trim border punch.

Fabulous Friday!

Happy Friday!  I am so excited!  It's a 3-day weekend for me!  The kiddos are out of school on Monday for MLK Day, so I took a vacation day, too!  Yippee!

Today is a friend's daughter's 18th birthday.  Where does the time go?  I remember her running around in diapers!  ACK!  This card is for her.

I got inspiration from one of Ilina's gorgeous creations for the layout.  My Bermuda Bay Scalloped Trim square started out at 3 13/16".  Check out Gretchen's blog for lots of sizes to start with to make perfect frames!  The Crushed Curry square is rolled with the Cupcakes wheel in Versamark and then embossed with Iridescent Ice.  So sparkly!  :)  The image is from Birthday Bliss.   (I just happened to get this set for free for SAB!  I am so excited that we can choose from the big catalog this year!)  I stamped the image in Jet Black Stazon and colored it in with my blender pens and In Color markers.  I scribbled on the stamp case with the markers, and then I picked up the color with the blender pen.  You get a softer look than if you colored directly on the paper with the markers.  The card base is Crushed Curry, and it's layered with Melon Mambo and DSP.  The DSP is from the SAB paper pack, Welcome Neighbor.  A piece of Bermuda Bay polka dot ribbon is the finishing touch.  I love how it came together.  I hope K does, too!

Supplies(all SU!):  Stamps- Birthday Bliss.  Ink- Jet Black Stazon, Crushed Curry, Melon Mambo, Bermuda Bay, Dusty Durango, Versamark.  Paper-  Crushed Curry, Melon Mambo, Bermuda Bay, Whisper White, Welcome Neighbor DSP.  Accessories-  Cupcakes Stampin' Around wheel, Iridescent Ice EP, blender pens, Scalloped Trim border punch, Scalloped Trim corner punch, Bermuda Bay polka dot grosgrain.

Inspiration Thursday

Wow!  I can't believe it's Thursday again already.  I have not had a chance to create anything since my last post.  How sad.

I was inspired by the tree in today's picture.  I didn't want to use the snow/winter theme as I am sick of all the cold weather!  I live in Florida!  It's supposed to be in the 70s, not the 40s, for high temps!  ACK!

I pulled out my new DSP paper pad that I got for FREE!  It's a Sale-A-Bration pick called Welcome Neighbor.  I found the perfect piece and got to work.  I also used a FREE SAB set, Whimsical Words, for the sentiment and the FREE SAB punch for the bottom edge.  :)   I stamped the sentiment on Whisper White and punched it out with the Scalloped Oval punch.  I used a Stampin' Sponge and some Bashful Blue ink to make it look like another cloud.  Some  Old Olive grosgrain is the finishing touch.

Head on over to the UDI blog to see what everyone else created.

Supplies(all SU!):  Stamps-  Whimsical Words.  Ink- Chocolate Chip, Bashful Blue.  Paper- Old Olive, Chocolate Chip, Welcome Neighbor DSP.  Accessories- Scalloped Oval punch,  Scalloped Trim border punch, Old Olive 1/4" grosgrain, sponge.

Sketchy Saturday

Wow!  It seems like I just posted the last sketch challenge.  Where does the time go?

I used some new goodies on my card.  The image is a piece of Welcome Neighbor DSP available for FREE during SAB.  The Scallop Trim border punch that I used on the bottom of the cardstock layers is also available for FREE during SAB.  The corner punch is available for purchase in the Occasions mini.  The sentiment is from the Occasions mini Level 1 Hostess set, Picture This.  I punched it with the Word Window punch and attached some Neutrals brads to each end.

Head on over to the UDI blog to see the other team members' creations.

Supplies(all SU!):  Stamps- Picture This (Occasions mini Hostess Level 1).  Ink- Bermuda Bay.  Paper-  Whisper White, Bermuda Bay, Pumpkin Pie, Welcome Neighbor DSP.  Accessories-  Scallop Trim border punch, Scallop Trim corner punch, Word Window punch, Neutrals brads.

Inspiration Thursday

It's Thursday again!  Another inspiration challenge has been posted on the UDI blog.

I took my inspiration from just about everything in the picture today.  LOL  The layout, the shapes and the colors.  I used Soft Suede, Pumpkin Pie and Very Vanilla for my colors.  The Medallion background is supposed to mimic the clock's shape.  I embossed the background piece to mimic the curly ribbons.  I wanted everything to sparkle so I covered all the cardstock with Champagne Mist shimmer paint.  The finishing touches were the Soft Suede ribbon and the Fire Circle rhinestone brad.

Head on over to the UDI blog to see what the other team members created for your viewing pleasure.  :)

Supplies(all SU!):  Stamps-  Medallion.  Ink- Soft Suede.  Paper- Soft Suede, Pumpkin Pie, Very Vanilla.  Accessories- Big Shot, Perfect Details Texturz plate, Champagne Mist shimmer paint, Soft Suede grosgrain ribbon, Fire Circle rhinestone brad.

Top Note Treasure Box

Good Wednesday afternoon!  I hope you are staying warm wherever you are!  I heard on the radio this morning that we may see some snow flurries this weekend!  Ummm..hello!  I live in Tampa!  ACK!  The kiddos are thrilled!  Me...not so much!  LOL    I do remember it snowing in Tampa before though.  I was in the first grade.  :)

Today's project is one that was shared by a fellow SU! demo, Wendy, who had gotten the instructions from another demo, Kelly.  (Stampers are the nicest people!) I used some retired cardstock, DSP and ribbon for this one.  I am waiting (impatiently, I might add) for my new goodies to arrive.  I waited for SAB  to order so I could get some free stuff!  :)  SU!'s gorgeous new Valentine paper will be here Friday afternoon!  WooHoo!

Here are the instructions I used for this version.  There are other versions out there, too.  I have made a few different kinds.  I love them all!  :)

For the box, you'll need a piece of cardstock 9" X 6".  Score at 1" on all sides.  Then score at 4" and 5" on the 9" side.  Cut your middle score lines and the score lines on just one end up to the 1" score lines.  These will be the tabs to form your box.  Cut off the sides down the score lines on the other end completely.  This side will be the lid.  Add adhesive and assemble the box.  You can use a magnet or velcro to keep it closed, or just slide the tab into the box like I did.

For the inserts, you'll need a piece of cardstock 3" X 6" and 2 pieces 2" X 5".  Score the larger piece at 2", 3" and 4".  Score the 2 smaller pieces at 1.5", 2.5" and 3.5".  Fold them up and stick them in your box.  You can use adhesive if you'd like, but they will be fine without it.

The lids are made from the SU! exclusive Top Note die.  I cut 2 from cardstock and 1 from coordinating DSP.  Adhere to the box.

I hope you'll try one for yourself!

Supplies(all  SU!):  Stamps- none.  Ink- none.  Paper-  Riding Hood Red (retired), Old Olive, Bella Rose DSP (retired).  Accessories-  Big Shot, Top Note die, Riding Hood Red taffeta (retired), Sticky Strip.

Sketchy Saturday

Happy Saturday!  It's time for another Sketch Challenge from Carol over on the UDI blog.

Today's sketch was a very straightforward one with no surprise challenges thrown in for us.  I decided to turn it on its side.  I inked up my brand-new Fox and Friends stamp set (available on Tuesday!) and made a baby card.  Now I just have to find someone who is having a baby.  LOL   My card base and image and sentiment panels are Very Vanilla.  The film strip (made with the Spiral punch) is Basic Black.  The Kraft layer was run through the Big Shot with the Small Polka Dot Texturz plate.  The sentiment was punched with the Word Window, and the images were punched with the Scalloped Square punch.  A piece of Very Vanilla taffeta finishes it.  I just love the images is Fox & Friends.  They are so cute!

Make sure you head on over to the UDI blog to see what the other team members created!

Enjoy your weekend!

Supplies(all SU!):  Stamps- Fox & Friends, Teeny Tiny Wishes.  Ink- Basic Black, Pretty in Pink, Certainly Celery, Bashful Blue.  Paper- Very Vanilla, Kraft, Basic Black.  Accessories-  Scalloped Square punch, Spiral punch, Word Window punch, Big Shot, Texturz plate, Very Vanilla taffeta.

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!  It's 2010!  What do we need now?  A new calendar, of course!  Today's project is a desktop easel calendar box.  What a name!  LOL  The original inspiration is here.

For my box, I pulled out some In Colors.  They've been a bit neglected lately.  The base is Melon Mambo.  Rich Razzleberry is layered along with some Razzleberry Lemonade DSP.  I colored the image from Razzle Dazzle with my In Color markers.  The sentiment is punched with the Large Oval and layered on a Scalloped Oval punch.  The drawer pull is a White brad on a Melon Mambo 1/2" Circle punch.  This was such a fun project!

Have a fabulous start to the new year!

Supplies(all SU!):  Stamps-  Razzle Dazzle.  Ink- Rich Razzleberry, Melon Mambo, Crushed Curry.  Paper-  Whisper White, Melon Mambo, Rich Razzleberry, Razzleberry Lemonade DSP.  Accessories-  Scalloped Oval punch, Large Oval punch, 1/2" Circle punch, White brad, Sticky Strip.
