Congratulations, Graduate!

Happy Sunday!  I know I said I'd post this card yesterday, but time just got away from me.  Here is the card I made for my baby sister's college graduation yesterday.  I used a retired green because it matched the school seal perfectly.  (I used my 1 3/4" Circle punch to snatch it from the announcement she mailed.)

We had a great time with friends and family afterward at dinner.  I haven't seen my dad in ages (he moved to GA a few years ago), so it was nice to spend time with him and his wife.  I don't get to see my brother and his wife or my baby sis enough either.  Life is just crazy busy for everyone these days.

Here's a pic of my baby sis waiting to walk across the stage yesterday.  :)

Enjoy what's left of your weekend!

Supplies(all SU!):  Stamps- Teeny Tiny Wishes.  Ink- Glorious Green (retired).  Paper- Whisper White, Brushed Gold, Glorious Green (retired).  Accessories- Scalloped Edge border punch, 1 3/4" Circle punch, 2 3/8" Scalloped Circle punch, Big Shot, Circles #2 die, Whisper White Organza ribbon.

Thankful Friday!

Happy Friday!  Today's post...thank you note cards!  ;)   I made a batch for my son to send for his birthday gifts.

They are so easy to make.  They are basically just fancy post cards. The Real Red base is 5 1/2" X 4 1/4".  The Very Vanilla layer is 5 1/4" X 4".  There is a layer of Real Red and Dashing DSP (retired) at the top, and a fun, little cupcake complete with a cherry on top (OMGosh!  Sneak peek from the upcoming Ocassions mini!) on the bottom of the note.  I sponged the frosting so it would stand out from the card stock. The sentiment is from Thank You Kindly.  That's it.  Easy peasy!

I am so ready for the weekend!  My baby sister is graduating from college tomorrow, and I can't wait to see her walk across the stage!  I'll post the card I made for her sometime tomorrow!

Supplies(all SU!):  Stamps- Thank You Kindly.  Ink- Real Red.  Paper- Very Vanilla, Real Red, Dashing DSP (retired).  Accessories-  Cupcake punch (available January 4th!).

Happy Hanukkah!

Happy Monday and Happy Hanukkah to all my Jewish friends!  I know it started last week, but I just got a card made this morning.  I'm hand-delivering this one, so they'll get it while they're still celebrating.  :)

The card base is Night of Navy.  The next layer is a piece of Whisper White run through the Big Shot in the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder.  I only put the paper partially in the folder so that the bottom part is plain.  There are score lines above and below the sentiment. (You may be able to see them if you click on the picture.) I used clip-art for the image.  The menorah is colored with a grey watercolor pencil and then blended with a blender pen.  The Star of David is Night of Navy and the flames are More Mustard.  The image is layered on a piece of Brushed Silver and then Night of Navy.  It's adhered to the card base with dimensionals.

Supplies( all SU! except for clip-art):  Stamps-  Four the Holidays.  Ink- Night of Navy, More Mustard.  Paper- Night of Navy, Whisper White, Brushed Silver.  Accessories- Big Shot, Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder, dimensionals.

A new MDS blog banner

Happy Friday!  I am so ready for the weekend!

I've been playing with My Digital Studio today.  I joined an MDS dessert recipe swap.  We're all submitting 8x8 recipe pages, and then all the recipes will be put together in an album.  I had fun creating my page for yummy Chocolate Pecan Pie Bars.  I can't wait to get all the other recipes so I can try them!  ;)

Since that was so much fun, I decided to update my blog banner.  I used the Candy Lane photo card kit.  I love the way it looks!  How about you?  I'll work on a new background tomorrow.  :)

I'm off to watch some television and relax.  I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Clean & Simple Square

Happy Tuesday!  Today's card uses this week's Clean & Simple sketch.  My pictures are still lacking.  My phone just doesn't take the best pictures.  I guess I need to hurry up and buy a new SD card.

The card base is a 5 1/4" square of Old Olive.  The next layer is a piece of Jolly Holiday DSP.  A strip of Cherry Cobbler and another strip of the DSP are used as a landing point for the sentiment/focal image.  It's from Perfect Punches and stamped in Cherry Cobbler and Old Olive on Very Vanilla.  The Cherry Cobbler center was punched with the 1 1/4" Circle punch.  The large Cherry Cobbler scallop was punched with the 2 3/8" Scallop Circle punch.  I made the bow with some retired Old Olive taffeta.  The scallops are adhered to the card with dimensionals.  That's it. Easy peasy.

Supplies(all SU!): Stamps- Perfect Punches.   Ink- Cherry Cobbler, Old Olive.  Paper- Very Vanilla, Cherry Cobbler, Old Olive, Jolly Holiday DSP.  Accessories- 1 14" Circle punch, 1 3/4" & 2 3/8" Scallop Circle punches, Old Olive taffeta (retired), mini glue dots, dimensionals.

A Clean and Simple Christmas Card

Happy Saturday!  Here's a card I made Thanksgiving morning before we headed out to St. Pete Beach to celebrate.  :)

The card base is Concord Crush.  Not your traditional Christmas color, but so very pretty.  I used the Northern Flurry embossing folder for the focal image.  The sentiment from All Holidays is stamped in Concord Crush and punched with the Decorative Label punch.  The edges of the punch and the image layer and the snowflakes themselves are all sponged with Concord Crush ink.  A piece of Concord Crush ribbon with a bow adorns the top of the card.  Rhinestone jewels highlight each of the snowflakes.  I also used them to highlight "Christ" in the sentiment.  He is, after all, the reason for the season.  :)

Enjoy your weekend!

Supplies(all SU!):  Stamps- All Holidays.  Ink- Concord Crush.  Paper- Whisper White, Concord Crush.  Accessories-  Big Shot, Northern Flurry embossing folder, Decorative Label punch, Concord Crush ribbon, Rhinestone jewels, glue dot, stampin' sponge.

Gosh, I must be getting old!

Happy Wednesday!

Like that title?  Well, just let me explain.  Somehow,  the years have been flying right by me!  Today is my son's 14th birthday!  *GASP*  How did that happen?  I just know I'm still 25!  ;)

Here's the card I made for him.   His favorite color at the moment is red, so that's where I got my color combo.  He's a huge sports nut (all of them! LOL), but since I don't have any sports stamps, I used the cupcake from Crazy for Cupcakes.  :)  The red card stock was run through the Big Shot on the Harlequin Texturz plate for some added dimension.  The DSP is from last year's Christmas pack, Dashing.  I used a piece of 3/8" twill tape to hide the seam between the papers.  Crumb Cake was used for the base and that and some Basic Black was thrown in for mats.  The cupcake was stamped with Jet Black stazon and highlighted with my Real Red marker.  The flame is More Mustard, and I just had to put some bling on it.  Maybe he won't notice.  :P

We're going out to dinner at CiCi's (both my kiddos love that place) tonight to celebrate, and then it's home for cake and presents!

Supplies(all SU!):  Stamps-  Crazy for Cupcakes.  Ink- Jet Black Stazon, Real Red.  Paper- Crumb Cake, Basic Black, Real Red, Very Vanilla, Dashing DSP (retired).  Accessories-  Big Shot, Harlequin Texturz plate, 3/8" twill tape, Ticket Corner punch, Dazzling Diamonds, 2-way glue pen, dimensionals.

A Thanksgiving Card

Happy Saturday!  My kiddos are so glad to be off for the next 9 days.  :)

Thursday was the Great American Teach-In here in Hillsborough County, and I made a Thanksgiving card with a class of 5th graders.  Their teacher was both of my kids' 5th grade teacher.   It was fun going back and catching up with her.  :)  The bonus...the kids loved making the card.  I had to admit, I was a bit nervous, but even the boys enjoyed it.  I'm going to go back and make something for the 'winter holidays' with them.

The card base is the retired color, Ruby Red.  I had an entire unopened package of it in my stash.  The Very Vanilla layer was stamped with the Medallion stamp and a sentiment from Falling Leaves.  They stamped a corner of the envelope with the Medallion stamp, too.  Then the kids ran the card stock through the Big Shot in the Square Lattice embossing folder.  That was a hit.  Then it was off to the spritzing station to spritz the card and envelope with the Color Spritzer tool.  That was an even bigger hit.  :) Then since we still had time, they all ran the envelope flap through the Big Shot to emboss it.  I had such a great time.  I need to think about having a kids' class.  :)

(Sorry about the picture quality.  My SD card decided not to work anymore, so I had to take the picture with my phone.)

Supplies(all SU!): Stamps- Medallion, Falling Leaves.  Ink- Ruby Red (retired).  Paper- Ruby Red (retired), Very Vanilla. Accessories-  Big Shot, Color Spritzer tool, Square Lattice embossing folder.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
