Still celebrating!

Not only was yesterday my mom's birthday, it was also Robert's birthday. :) Here's the card I made for him.

The Summer Sun layer was run through my Big Shot with a Texturz plate. The image is from an upcoming hostess set, The More the Merrier. I stamped it in Jet Black Stazon and colored the hearts and beaks. The sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Wishes and punched out with the Word Window punch. It's then layered on a Modern Label punch. I kept it pretty simple since I didn't think he would appreciate ribbon and glitter. LOL

Have a super Tuesday!

Supplies(all SU!): Stamps- The More the Merrier, Teeny Tiny Wishes (both available tomorrow!). Ink- Jet Black Stazon, Real Red, Apricot Appeal. Paper- Whisper White, Summer Sun, Basic Black. Accessories- Big Shot, Texturz plate, Modern Label punch (available tomorrow!), Word Window punch.

Time to celebrate!

Happy birthday, Mom!

Today's card is my mom's birthday card. I used a retired Carousel note in Soft Sky for the base. The part that opens is the Sweet Slumber polka-dotted paper. I cut the circle card with my Circle Scissor Plus. The daisy is cut from Whisper White and has a Chocolate Chip Corduroy brad as the center. A sentiment from Teeny Tiny Wishes punched with the Modern Label punch and some Riding Hood Red taffeta finishes the card.

Supplies(all SU!): Stamps- Teeny Tiny Wishes (available July 1st!). Ink- Ruby Red. Paper- Whisper White, Sweet Slumber DSP. Accessories- Big Shot, Daisy #2, Circle Scissor Plus, Chocolate Chip Corduroy brad, Riding Hood Red taffeta, Modern Label punch (available Jul 1st!), Soft Sky Carousel note (retired).

Sweet Slumber Sympathy

Today is the funeral for Eva, my sisters' grandmother. I made both my sisters a card. I wanted them to be different but not too much. I used the card posted here for one of them. I added a sentiment to it when I made today's card. (It is exactly the same as today's sentiment.)

The card base and mats are Baja Breeze. I used Sweet Slumber DSP for the background layer. I stamped the image from Razzle Dazzle in Ruby Red (stamped off once). The sentiment is from Thoughts and Prayers. I added a bow of Whisper White organza to finish the card.

I hope that the cards bring them a little comfort today. Hug the ones you love tightly!

Supplies(all SU): Stamps- Thoughts and Prayers, Razzle Dazzle. Ink- Ruby Red. Paper- Whisper White, Baja Breeze, Sweet Slumber DSP. Accessories- Large Oval and Scallop Oval punches, Whisper White organza, dimensionals.

Soft Suede Sympathy

This is the 2nd post of the day. If you're looking for the UDI Inspiration Challenge, scroll down just a bit.

This card was made for my sisters' grandfather, Mike. His wife passed away last night. I will be going to visit this afternoon. I need to make my sisters both a card, too, but wanted to get his made right away.

Eva was a wonderful woman, and I am glad I knew her. She was my sisters' grandmother. (We're half-sisters biologically). I was able to see her just one month ago at my sister's baby shower. She looked wonderful. I am so shocked that she is gone. Mike and my sisters can take comfort in the fact that Sylvia (Mike's daughter and my sisters' mom who we lost to breast cancer on 1/11/01) was there to greet her.

Hug the ones you love!

Supplies(all SU!): Stamps- Thoughts and Prayers. Ink- Soft Suede. Paper- Crushed Curry, Soft Suede, Razzleberry Lemonade DSP. Accessories- Large Oval punch, Scalloped Oval punch, Soft Suede ribbon (it's polka-dotted on the other side!).

Inspiration Thursday

Happy Thursday! It's time for another Inspiration Challenge over on the UDI blog. Check out all the team members' creations and play along with us!

My card today is a pretty literal interpretation. My quilt is made from the Top Note die and Sweet Always DSP. I used a white gel pen to "sew" my patches together. The white layer was run through the Big Shot with the Damask Texturz background plate to give it a quilted look. The base is Baja Breeze. I finished it off with a piece of Whisper White Organza and an Ice Circle brad.

Supplies(all SU!): Stamps- none. Ink- none. Paper- Whisper White, Baja Breeze, Sweet Always DSP. Accessories- Big Shot, Top Note die, Texturz plate, 1 1/4" Square punch, Whisper White Organza, Ice Circle rhinestone brad, dimensionals.

A Cherry of a Tote

Mr. Brown came to see me yesterday. He brought me a Circle Scissor Plus. (I finally caved! LOL) I love it! I didn't have any problems at all. I made 4 big ole circles in about 4 seconds! ;) I used those 4 circles to make a circle tote. These have been all over the internet, but I this is the first one I have created. I made it to coordinate with the Top Note purse in this post. My daughter just loves it, and uses it as a phone case.

I covered 2 Riding Hood Red circles with 2 Rockabilly DSP circles. I cut a little off the bottoms so that it would stand up on its own. Then I punched out the "handles" with the large oval punch. I framed them with a Riding Hood Red Scalloped Oval. I used a strip of Riding Hood Red and a strip of another pattern from the Rockabilly DSP to decorate the front. I colored the sentiment from Oval All in with my Ruby Red so that I could omit the word friend. I used an Ice Circle rhinestone brad in the center of the flower and adhered the sentiment piece with dimensionals. I used a piece of Kiwi Kiss ribbon to tie the handle closed. I didn't have any bags small enough to fit inside the circles (all mine are lunch sized LOL), so I cut out a Box #2 with my Big Shot. I just cut of the top flaps before I assembled it. I used Sticky Strip to adhere the circles to it so it won't fall apart.

Isn't it just the cutest? ;)

Supplies(all SU!): Stamps- Oval All. Ink- Ruby Red. Paper- Whisper White, Riding Hood Red, Rockabilly DSP. Accessories- Big Shot, Box #2 die, Circle Scissor Plus, Large Oval and Scalloped Oval punches, Ice Circle rhinestone brad, Kiwi Kiss ribbon, dimensionals, Sticky Strip.

Happy Father's Day!

Happy Father's Day to my dad, my children's dad and all the other dads out there! I hope you have a fantastic day today!

Here is the card I made for my best friend. I used the jumbo SA wheel, Friendly Words. I highlighted a few of the words with More Mustard chalk and a sponge dauber. The sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Wishes and is punched out with the Modern Label punch and layered on a Magnetic Movers & Shapers die-cut. I used Chocolate Chip and Very Vanilla taffeta along with some paper piercing to finish up the card.

Enjoy your Sunday!

Happy Inspiration Thursday! You know what that means...it's almost Friday! WooHoo! ;)

I took today's UDI Inspiration Challenge picture literally. It's a purse. My project is a purse. See how that worked? LOL Anyway, I have decided to actually use my stash of stuff that will be retiring at the end of the month. Novel idea, huh? Today's Top Note purse is made with Riding Hood Red cardstock, a small scrap of Kiwi Kiss cardstock (scraps are all that I have left of Kiwi Kiss), and Rockabilly DSP. I also used the Scallop Circle die. (I just love my Big Shot!) I used Becky Roberts' tutorial for the purse. You can find it here.

Enjoy your Thursday!

Inspiration Challenge Thursday

It's Thursday again, and it's time for the UDI Inspiration Challenge. Here is a link to the UDI blog so you can check out the rest of the submissions! I'm excited to have some new members on the design team, and I can't wait to see what they did with the picture!

I took my inspiration from the dots and was thrilled to find a piece of Razzleberry Lemonade DSP (available July 1st) that I think is just perfect. I used the branch image from Thoughts and Prayers. The new In Color reinkers (available July 1st) and a blender pen were used to color the flowers. I also just had to use some of the new polka-dot In Color ribbon and the new Modern Label punch and matching Magnetic Movers & Shapers die (all available July 1st) to finish off the card. The sentiment is from Really Retro. I just love how bright and cheerful it is. The card will be on its way up north this morning to bring some cheer to a fabulous friend of mine who is having a not so great time right now.

If you'd like to play along, leave me a comment with a link to your creation!

Supplies(all SU!): Stamps- Thoughts and Prayers, Really Retro. Paper- Whisper White, Melon Mambo, Razzleberry Lemonade DSP. Ink- Close to Cocoa, Gable Green, Crushed Curry, Melon Mambo, Bermuda Bay. Accessories- Modern Label punch, Magnetic Movers & Shapers, Big Shot, Melon Mambo polka dot ribbon, blender pen, dimensionals.

Tri-shutter Tuesday

Happy Tuesday! Hey, it's not Monday anymore! :)

I found this really neat card on a few different blogs while I was browsing this weekend. I had to try one for myself. This is the result. It looks so complicated, but it's really easy to make.

I started out wi
th some nice, heavy Parisian Breeze DSP. I used Kraft for matting and Very Vanilla for stamping. My sentiments are from On Your Birthday. The cupcakes are from a Level 3 Hostess set that will be available July 1st. The cupcakes are side by side on the stamp, but I wanted them up and down so I stamped them one at a time. I used Ruby Red as an accent color. The ribbon and the Pretties Kit flower were dyed to match. I colored them first with my Sahara Sand marker. I thought it would be pretty close to Kraft, but it was actually a greenish color. ACK! I decided to color over that with my Creamy Caramel marker. Voila! I love the final color! IRL it is just a tad darker than Kraft, and the flower and ribbon are the same color. It looks darker in the picture for some reason.

If you'd like to try a tri-shutter card for yourself,
this is the tutorial I used.

Supplies(all SU!): Stamps- On Your Birthday, The More the Merrier (sneak peek!). Ink- Sahara Sand, Creamy Caramel, Ruby Red, Close to Cocoa. Paper- Very Vanilla, Kraft, Parisian Breeze. Accessories- Button Latte, Clear Rhinestone brad, Pretties Kit, Very Vanilla taffeta, Horizontal Slot punch.

Sketch Challenge Thank You

Happy Sunday morning! It is a fabulous day here!

I started out my morning with a sketch challenge. It's from Stamping411 which you can find here. I needed a thank you card for my daughter's teacher for the end-of-the-year gift she gave me, and the layout is always the hardest part for me. I turned the sketch on its side, and I moved the embellishment from the bottom to the top.

I stamped the sentiment from Define Your Life on Shimmery White paper. I stamped the Frames with a Flourish image with my Stamp-a-ma-jig. It's the first time that set has seen ink, and it's on the Last Chance List. The DSP is Rockabilly which is also on the Last Chance List. I just opened the package this morning. I need to stop the hoarding! LOL

Have a fabulous day! I hope you find some time to create!

Supplies(all SU!): Stamps- Define Your Life, Frames with a Flourish. Ink- Jet Black Stazon. Paper- Shimmery White, Riding Hood Red, Basic Black, Rockabilly DSP. Accessories- Basic Black grosgrain, Ticket Corner punch.

Cute & Cuddly Baby Card

Happy Saturday! I hope you are having a fantastic weekend!

I made this card for a baby shower my daughter and I will be attending tomorrow. The mom-to-be is having a boy, and it's her first. It seems like just yesterday I was pregnant with my first child. He has been reminding me since the beginning of the year that this year he will be a teenager. His birthday isn't until the end of November, but it seems to be approaching so quickly! How can I be the mother of an almost-teenager!?? LOL Anyway...

I used my Big Shot and a couple different dies on the card. Love that thing! (Just wait until you see the new SU! catty and all the fabulous new Big Shot stuff! WooHoo!) The card base is a piece of Close to Cocoa cardstock. I stamped the teddy bear from Cute & Cuddly on a piece of watercolor paper that I cut into an oval with my Coluzzle, distressed with my Cutter Kit and sponged with Creamy Caramel ink. He is colored in with markers and a blender pen. I adhered the watercolor paper to a Scalloped Oval Frame cut with the Big Shot out of 2 different pieces of Parisian Breeze DSP. The sentiment is also stamped on watercolor paper. I punched it out with the Large Oval punch. I sponged Creamy Caramel on that piece, too. I then adhered it to a Scalloped Oval piece of DSP and then onto another larger Scalloped Oval piece. Guess what?! That is a sneak peek of a new set of dies! WooHoo! (Just click on the pic to get a better look at it!) There are four dies in the set, and they coordinate with 4 of SU!'s punches (heart, star, scalloped oval, and the new modern label). They are magnetic and can be used in the middle of the Movers and Shapers die from the current catalog! The fabulous thing is that they can be used to layer with the coordinating punches even without making an entire card! I just put a small piece of DSP on the die and ran the whole thing through the Big Shot! How cool is that?! The finishing touch on the card is a piece of Very Vanilla taffeta. I used my Horizontal Slot punch to make a little spot for the ribbon to go through the card.

I really like the final product. I hope the mom-to-be likes it, too!

Supplies(all SU!): Stamps- Cute and Cuddly. Ink- Chocolate Chip, Close to Cocoa, Creamy Caramel. Paper- Watercolor paper, Close to Cocoa, Parisian Breeze DSP. Accessories- Big Shot, Scalloped Oval Frame, Magnetic Movers and Shapers (sneak peek!), Coluzzle, Scalloped Oval punch, Large Oval punch, Very Vanilla taffeta.

Inspiration Challenge #46

Happy Thursday! I am now the mom of 2 middle-schoolers. My baby finished 5th grade today. Where does the time go? Sorry for the late post. I have been crazy-busy these days with end-of-the-year gifts and my daughter's banquet and my real job. LOL

When I saw today's inspiration picture (here's a link to the original challenge post), I immediately thought of Cheers to You. Too bad I don't have that set. ;) I made a cup of lemonade instead. It is topped off with a sugar-coated rim and a slice of lemon. Just perfect for the first day of summer! *If you look closely, you'll see a couple sneak peeks!*

Supplies(all SU!): Stamps- Tart & Tangy, Sweet Little Sentiments. Paper- Whisper White, Vellum cardstock, Melon Mambo, Sweet Slumber DSP. Ink- So Saffron, Chocolate Chip. Accessories- Melon Mambo Polka Dot grosgrain, Modern Label punch, 1" Circle punch, Sticky Strip, Dazzling Diamonds. Misc- straw.
