Happy Friday Sketch Challenge

I just love Beate's Weekend Sketch Challenges! Layouts are the hardest part for me, and her sketches make creating so much easier! Thanks, Beate! Here is my card for WSC50. I just received Embrace Life (I know, what was I thinking?) this week, so I inked it up for the first time tonight. I added clear microbeads to the insides of the flower. I distressed the flower layer and used Blush Blossom to make the distressing stand out more. I'll add a sentiment to the inside when I decide who will receive it. Have a wonderful weekend!

Supplies (all SU!): Stamps- Embrace Life. Paper- Groovy Guava, Ginger Blossom DSP, Very Vanilla. Ink- Chocolate Chip, Blush Blossom, Cameo Coral. Accessories- cutter kit, Groovy Guava double-stitched ribbon, microbeads.

Pun Fun gift card holder

This gift card holder is for my son's teacher. It will be her end-of-the-year thank you gift from him. I used the cute little lamb from Pun Fun on the front. The heart is covered with crystal effects for shine. :) Inside there is a folded panel with a note, a pocket with a picture, a sentiment panel and a folded pocket for the gift card (or cash). These would be great for grad gifts as well! To make the album, cut a 12X12 DSP to 12X7. Score the 7" side at 3.5". Score the 12" side at 3", 6" and 9". Fold in half and then accordion fold. Flip down a flap on either end. Punch a half-circle out of the 2nd panel and glue the 3rd panel closed. (I found these instructions over at SCS almost a year ago.) I'm going to make another one for my daughter's teacher, too.

Supplies(all SU!): Stamps- Pun Fun, Much Appreciated. Ink- Stazon. Paper- Spring Fling DSP, Certainly Celery, Whisper White, Basic Black. Accessories- Black grosgrain ribbon, oval punch, circle punch, crystal effects, Real Red, Certainly Celery & Bordering Blue Stampin' Write markers, crop-a-dile.

A card for Mrs. B

I was asked to make a card for my son's teacher for her end-of-the-year gift. One of the other moms in the class made a digital photo book for Mrs. B. One of the class projects this year was to make the school beautiful. All the kids in her class planted flowers and trees on campus. They weeded the beds and kept them watered as well. I thought a flower card would be appropriate. :) To make the pot, I just cut a rectangle and then angled the sides. I also rounded the corners and distressed it with my cutter kit. I rubbed some Old Olive ink around the edges to dirty it up a bit. I hope Mrs. B likes it!

Supplies (all SU!): Stamps- One of a Kind. Paper- Kraft, Old Olive. Ink- Rose Red, Old Olive. Accessories- Flower Fusion, silver brads, Pumpkin Pie ribbon, cutter kit, corner rounder.

Family time

I am sorry I haven't posted in a few days. I spent Friday at Disney Quest in Orlando with my son's 5th grade class. It was their end of the year field trip. Then we spent the weekend camping at Fort Wilderness. Everything was perfect...until I got sick Sunday night. I don't know what it is, but it isn't fun! This is the first time I've felt good enough to sit at the computer. I did go to the office this morning just to pick up some work. I will be starting that in just a little while. I hope you all had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend!

Since I haven't had the chance to create in a while, I'm posting a card that was part of my Mother's Day gift class. The DSP and the stamp set are from the Occassions Mini catalog which is only available until June 30th! I will be so sad to see it end.

Supplies (all SU!): stamps- Live Your Dream. Paper- Afternoon Tea DSP, Groovy Guava, Whisper White, Chocolate Chip. Ink- Groovy Guava, Wild Wasabi, Chocolate Chip. Accessories- 5/8" Chocolate Chip grosgrain ribbon.

Summer is almost here!

The end of the school year is just around the corner! I love to give little gifts to the kids (and teachers) in my children's classes. If you're like me and on a budget, something small is just the thing. How about a sour cream container? You can make 4 from 1 sheet of 8.5 X 11 cardstock. Fill them with candy and they make the perfect little treat! You can find a tutorial over at SCS on the resources page. The apple on this one is so sparkly IRL. (Click on the pic for a closer view.) I used the Faux Diamond Dust technique on the white circle of cardstock. There is a tutorial for this over at SCS, too. Don't you just love that site?!
Supplies(all SU!): Stamps- Tart & Tangy. Paper- Summer Picnic DSP, Real Red, Green Galore, Whisper White. Ink- Real Red, Green Galore, Chocolate Chip, Versamark. Accessories- Scallop punch, circle punches, crimper, Real Red grosgrain, Irridescent Ice EP.

The Pumpkin Pie layer is paper pierced.
